Blog The Vote- Joe Biden “It is the only rational way”

Posted by Reuben Ingber on April 23, 2007

I am not saying Joe Biden is the only rational Republican candidate,I am skeptical of his plan for Iraq

The Des Moines Register writes:

“It is the only rational way,” said Biden, who proposes a federal system dividing Iraq into separate states of Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds. “No one can answer the question that comes next. After you surge, then what? After you cap, what then?”

Biden said that his plan, coupled with his long record in the U.S. Senate, makes him the right candidate to step into the office and to immediately take control of the Iraq war.

“The next president is going to be left with no margin for error,” he said. “We have some time, but not a lot of time. There is no time for on-the-job training.”

I don’t have faith in a Berlin Wall/Korea/Vietnam division plan for many reasons. First looking at the Berlin Wall situation, its fallen. Second in Korea and Vietnam there is a continuous struggle between North and South. Creating this struggle scenario in my opinion is a dangerous one to set in the Middle East. One way to solve the Iraq issues is to sit down with everyside and say “what do you want”  although they wont get it all, it maybe a step in the right direction.
