Iran: Keep Your Options Open

Posted by Reuben Ingber on October 3, 2007

I am not about to say that we should go into Iran today and level the place, however I am going to say it is ridiculous to place any form of restrictions on the options the President has to deal with the Iranian nuclear crisis. The NY SUN blog writes:

Senator Clinton’s announcement yesterday that she plans to support legislation to block President Bush from taking military action against Iran without prior approval from Congress did not sit well with Mitt Romney.

I personal think that those in Congress supporting legislation like this are trying to fix their “mistake,” when they authorized the Iraq war. In politics you can’t “Monday morning quarterback,” in other words try to fix your mistake. You must move forward and deal with the current situation in a manner that protects the country. Passing legislation that would “block President Bush from taking military action against Iran,” is not the right thing to do. What Congress should do is  work with the President to help defuse the situation as well as await for the President to ask to perform military action in Iran, he did it for Iraq, and he’ll do it again.

President Bush realizes that our armed forces are at a breaking point. In order to go into Iran, a third front in the “war on terror,” we would need to leave someplace else, Iraq or Afghanistan and we can’t do that. I believe the President recognizes this and is attempting to defuse the Iranian Nuclear Crisis, multilaterally through the United Nations with sanctions. What do you think?

Blog the Vote-Clinton’s Nomination Good for the GOP

Posted by Reuben Ingber on August 27, 2007

In an article today at the Politico, John Martin makes the case for why Hillary Clinton nomination would be good for the Republicans. I agree completely with the assertions that if Hillary gets the nominations, any republican candidate has a better shot at winning, an uphill battle. The Republicans have a very difficult election ahead, but the fact that the party appears to be changing is working for them. As well the approval rating for the Democratic congress is almost as low as the president approval rating and that is going to continue to impact the democrats chances, in all races. I believe that this election year we are going to see the majority shrink in the House, and possibly flip in the Senate. With Hillary on the ticket, I can almost guarantee it because the conservative vote will be so large against her. However she is still hard to beat because of the new voters that will come out just in support of her.

Blog The Vote- Hillary Rodham Clinton on You Tube

Posted by Reuben Ingber on May 17, 2007

I think I just wasted 53 seconds of my life by watching Hillary Clinton’s You Choose video on You Tube. Other candidates asked what issue was important to viewers or who their American hero is. Hillary chose for viewers to pick a campaign song, all I am saying is that a majority of the You Tube community and the American people have a lot more on their mind than a campaign song, this is not American Idol or TRL it is a PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

Blog The Vote-Congressional Black Caucus

Posted by Reuben Ingber on May 1, 2007

According to The Hill, a Capitol Hill newspaper, Sen. Barack Obama has yet to fulfill a promise to the Congressional Black Caucus to hold a fundraiser for their PAC.

His arch rival Sen. Hillary Clinton and her husband Bill Clinton, have both held fundraisers for the CBC.

Obama’s failure to match Clinton is significant because both are battling for support among black Democrats in the run-up to next year’s primaries. In South Carolina, for instance, the second primary in the nation, African-American voters are expected to make up about half of Democratic voters.

Blog The Vote-Democratic Frontrunner Confront Giuliani

Posted by Reuben Ingber on April 26, 2007

Earlier in the week, presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, Democrats “do not understand the full nature and scope of the terrorists’ war against us.” The two Democratic front runners fought back against Rudy.

Sen. Barack Obama said,

“‘America’s mayor’ should know that when it comes to 9/11 and fighting terrorists, America is united. We know we can win this war based on shared purpose, not the same divisive politics that question your patriotism if you dare to question failed policies that have made us less secure.”

Sen. Hillary Clinton  said in a written statement that “politicalrhetoric” won’t stop plots currently in the works against the United States.
CNN Political Ticker quoted Clinton

“We have to protect our country from terrorism — it shouldn’t be a Democratic fight or a Republican fight,” the New York senator said. “The plain truth is that this administration has done too little to protect our ports, make our mass transit safer, and protect our cities. They have isolated us in the world and have let al Qaeda regroup.

“The next president is going to be left with these problems and will have to do what it takes to make us safer and bring Democrats and Republicans together around this common mission of protecting our nation.”
